Publishing and going live

Your site is one click away from being live on the internet — completely free, with a secure HTTPS address included. Here's exactly how it works, what a subdomain is, and how to connect your own domain name when you're ready.

The one-click publish button

Every site you build in Ullbek has a Publish button right at the top of the editor. When you're happy with how your site looks, you just click it. That's genuinely all there is to it.

Within seconds, your website is live on the internet — visible to anyone with the link, on any device, anywhere in the world. No exporting files, no uploading to another service, no waiting around. The site goes from your editor straight to the web.

You don't need to be finished

You can publish as early as you like and keep making changes afterwards. Every time you update your site, just click Publish again and the new version goes live instantly. Publishing is not a one-time event — it's something you do whenever you want to push an update.

What's included — for free

When you publish, Ullbek gives you everything you need to be properly on the internet. None of these things cost anything extra.

Free

A real web address

Your site gets a public URL — a proper link you can share anywhere. Send it to customers, put it in your email signature, post it on social media.

Free

HTTPS — the padlock

Every Ullbek site gets an SSL certificate automatically. That's the padlock icon you see in the address bar. It means the connection is encrypted and visitors can trust your site.

Free

Fast, global hosting

Your site loads quickly for visitors everywhere — we use a global content delivery network (CDN) so the files are served from servers close to your visitor, wherever they are.

Free

Instant updates

Changed something? Hit Publish and it's live within seconds. No caches to clear, no waiting for "deployment" to finish. What you see in the editor is what goes live.

What is an SSL certificate?

It's a small security credential that tells browsers your site is safe. You'll see it as a padlock icon in the address bar. Without it, browsers show a scary "Not secure" warning. Ullbek provisions one for you automatically — you never have to think about it.

Your free subdomain address

When you publish for the first time, your site gets a free address on ullbek.site. It looks like this:

Your free URL your-site-name.ullbek.site

The part before .ullbek.site — that's called a subdomain. Think of it like an apartment number inside a building. The building is ullbek.site, and your apartment is your-site-name. It's a real, working address that anyone can visit.

You can share this link right away. It works perfectly for getting started, sending to early customers, or testing whether your website does what you need. Many businesses use their .ullbek.site address for a long time before deciding to get a custom domain.

Your subdomain, always yours

Once you publish and claim your subdomain, it stays assigned to your site. You won't lose it unless you delete the site yourself.

How to publish — step by step

If you haven't published yet, here's exactly what to do:

  1. Open the publish panel

Look for the Record button at the top of your editor toolbar — it's in the toolbar above the preview. Click it to open the publishing panel.

  2. Choose your subdomain

Ullbek will suggest a name based on your site. You can change it to anything you like — for example, if your business is called "Bloom Flowers", you might choose bloom-flowers.ullbek.site. Keep it short and easy to remember.

  3. Click Publish

That's it. Your site is live. You'll see a confirmation with your new web address, which you can copy and share straight away.

  4. Share your link

Copy your URL and send it to customers, add it to your Instagram bio, put it in your email footer — wherever your customers are looking for you.

"One click. Done. Your website is live on the internet — no technical knowledge required."

Free subdomain vs. your own domain

There are two ways to have a web address with Ullbek. Here's how they compare:

Free

Subdomain

Included with every account

  • Your address, e.g. yourname.ullbek.site
  • HTTPS included automatically
  • Publish instantly, no setup
  • Shareable from day one
  • Perfect for getting started
Add-on

Custom domain

$18 / site / month

  • Your own address, e.g. mybusiness.com
  • HTTPS provisioned automatically
  • DNS guidance & support
  • Professional brand presence
  • Visitors see your name, not ours

A custom domain is a domain name you own — something like yourname.com or myshop.co.uk. You buy it from a domain registrar (like GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains), and then connect it to your Ullbek site. When people visit yourname.com, they see your Ullbek site.

You don't need a custom domain to launch — the free subdomain is a perfectly good address. But if you want customers to see your business name in the address bar, a custom domain gives your site that professional feel.

Connecting your own domain

If you already have a domain name, or you decide to get one later, connecting it to Ullbek is straightforward. You'll make a small change in your domain registrar's settings — it's called a DNS record — and Ullbek handles the rest, including setting up your HTTPS certificate automatically.

What is a DNS record?

DNS is the internet's address book — it translates a domain name like yourname.com into the actual server address where your site lives. Adding a DNS record is like updating that address book to say "when someone looks up yourname.com, send them to Ullbek." Your domain registrar has a simple settings panel where you do this.

  1. Open the publish panel and go to "Custom domain"

In the publish panel, you'll see an option to add a custom domain. Click it and type in the domain name you own — for example, mybakery.com.

  2. Ullbek gives you your DNS records

You'll see a small table showing the exact records to add. It will look something like: Type: CNAME, Name: www, Value: sites.ullbek.com. Don't worry about what this means — just copy and paste the values exactly as shown.

  3. Log in to your domain registrar and add the records

Your domain registrar is wherever you bought your domain — GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace Domains, Google Domains, and so on. Log in, find the DNS settings for your domain, and add the record Ullbek gave you. Still stuck? Just ask Ullbek in the chat — type something like "help me add my DNS record at GoDaddy" and it will walk you through the steps for your specific registrar.

  4. Wait a few minutes and you're done

DNS changes usually take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours to kick in across the internet. Ullbek will automatically detect when your domain is connected and provision your HTTPS certificate. You don't need to do anything else.

DNS changes can take up to 48 hours

In most cases your domain connects within a few minutes to an hour, but sometimes it can take up to 48 hours. This is a normal part of how the internet works — it's not an Ullbek issue. During that window your site is still live on your free subdomain address.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes, completely. Publishing to your .ullbek.site subdomain is free, forever. The only thing that costs extra is connecting your own custom domain ($18/site/month).
Do I need a domain?
No. The free subdomain is a fully functional web address. Many businesses use it indefinitely. You only need your own domain if you want customers to see your business name in the URL.
What's the padlock for?
It means your site is secure. Ullbek automatically provisions an SSL/TLS certificate for every site — free or custom domain. Visitors see the padlock, meaning the connection is encrypted. Google also ranks HTTPS sites higher in search results.
Can I unpublish?
Yes. In the publish panel, you can take your site offline at any time. It won't delete your site — just makes it private. You can republish whenever you want.
Will updates break my site?
No. Updates only go live when you click Publish. Until then, your visitors see the last published version. You can draft and preview changes in the editor without affecting what's live.
Where do I buy a domain?
Anywhere you like — popular registrars include GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, and Porkbun. Domain names typically cost $10–15 per year. Once you have one, connect it using the steps above.

Tips for a smooth launch

Before you share your link with the world, here's a quick checklist to make sure everything looks great:

  • View it on your phone. Most of your visitors will be on mobile. Go to the preview, shrink it down, and make sure everything looks good on a small screen.
  • Check your contact details. If you have a phone number, address, or email on your site — double-check they're correct. These are the things customers will use to reach you.
  • Read it aloud. A quick read-through catches spelling mistakes that spell-checkers miss. Reading aloud makes them obvious.
  • Click every link. Make sure your buttons and navigation links all go where they should.
  • Ask a friend to look. A fresh pair of eyes spots things you've stopped noticing. Send them your link and ask: "does this make sense to you?"
Don't wait for perfect

A good website live today beats a perfect one that never launches. Publish what you have, share it, and improve as you go. Ullbek makes updating your site as easy as publishing it.
